· Consults
with department staff in analyzing existing and proposed data processing
procedures and requirements
· Recommends,
designs and develops application solutions for software development
requests or issues. Examples include Traffic Collision Tracking and
Analysis, Gang Activity, Homeless Tracking System, Pawn Shop Program,
Organized Crime Complaint System, Victims Advocate System,
Personnel/Management System and
Field Interviews
· Provides
end user support for new programs and coordinates and trains personnel
to meet support requirements/maintenance for the system
· Plans
and develops testing strategies that includes preparing test data,
conducting program testing, and debugging/troubleshooting
· Maintains
and enhances existing systems
Computer
Liaison
The Computer
Liaison is the first point of contact between the department and
Computer Services. Handling requests in this manner reduces the chance
of miscommunication and duplicate entries. It enables Information
Technology consultants to better prioritize requests.
Web
Developer

Maintains and reviews existing Web pages for accuracy and
currency
· Designs
and implements new Web pages
· Keeps
up with developments on the Web through education, reading, attending
conferences and networking
· Develops
and implements procedures for the ongoing revision of the Columbia
Police Department Web site
· Updates
information in correct tagged formats
· Identifies
and promotes site to others on the Web (search engines and other police
agencies)
· Informs
staff of updates to the Web site
· Shoots
digital images and video for the Web site
