More volunteers are always needed in
the community. Adults or older teens are needed to tutor, escort and
mentor youth, write and distribute KOBAN newsletters and birthday
cards, and provide assistance to staff at the sites. Volunteers are
also needed to assist the staff with community activities
(chaperoning events, fun-days, sports outings or scouting). A
renewed community safety (fire and crime watch) effort will require
volunteers. While the main focus is on crime reduction and community
safety, a key component will be helping to recruit and keep new
members in the KOBAN/Youth Safe Haven Program. Teaching our youth
new skills and providing a safe, positive, supervised environment
will focus their attentions on activities that will build their
character and teach them values.
