DEFINITIONS

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT

ABK        Assault and Battery with Intent to Kill

ABH        Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature

An unlawful attack by one person upon another for the purpose of inflicting severe or aggravated bodily injury.
ARSON

Any willful or malicious burning or attempting to burn, with or without intent to defraud, a dwelling house public building or aircraft, personal property of another, etc.

AUB        Auto Breaking

It is unlawful for a person to  break or attempt to break into a motor vehicle or its compartment with the intent to steal it or anything of value from it, or attached or annexed to it, or used in connection with it or in the perpetration of any criminal offense.

BURGLARY

BEC        Commercial Burglary

BER        Residential Burglary

The unlawful entry of a structure to commit a felony or theft.  The use of force to gain entry is not required to classify an offense as a burglary.

CARJACKING

CAR        CarJacking

The forcible taking of a vehicle from a driver/passenger.
FORCIBLE RAPE

The carnal knowledge of a female forcibly and against her will.  Assaults and attempts to commit rape by force or threat of force are also included; however, statutory rape (without force) and other sex offenses are excluded.

LARCENY

The unlawful taking, carrying, leading, or riding away of property from the possession of another; attempts to do these acts are included in the definition.  This crime category includes shoplifting, pocket-picking, purse-snatching, thefts from motor vehicles, thefts of motor vehicle parts and accessories, bicycle thefts, and so forth, in which no use of force, violence, or fraud occurs.  Excluded from larceny-theft is motor vehicle theft, which is classified in a separate offense category; also excluded are crimes that involve embezzlement, confidence games, forgery, and worthless checks.

MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT

LMV        Larceny Motor Vehicle

The theft or attempted theft of a motor vehicle.  The offense includes the stealing of automobiles, trucks, buses, motorcycles, snowmobiles, etc.  The taking of a motor vehicle for temporary use by persons having lawful access is excluded from this definition.

HOM        Homicide

  The willful (non-negligent) killing of one human being by another.

The taking or attempting to take anything of value from the care, custody, or control of a person or persons by force or threat of force or violence and/or by putting the victim in fear.
